Center for International Peace and Justice

The Center for International Peace and Justice is dedicated to the advancement of international studies at Lipscomb and in the community. This complements the university's efforts to move forward with faith-informed learning, especially as we search for ways to give concrete expression to this notion.

The strategic premise of the Center is that the development of a Christian worldview is reinforced by the parallel development of a global outlook. Accordingly, the mission of the Center is to promote awareness and understanding of international affairs, particularly as they relate to questions of peace, security and justice.

The Center's field of view is comprehensive, embodying four core beliefs.

  1. All fields of academic expertise share a connection to the interests of peace, security and justice.
  2. Each field has a unique competence that can illuminate issues that threaten these interests.
  3. Christian faith can inform and stimulate efforts to address problems of global significance, especially as they relate to violence, injustice, and human suffering in the world.
  4. Exploring a variety of points of view and fields of knowledge promotes greater understanding of world issues and potentially equips students, faculty, and community participants to be positive factors in the quest for greater international peace, security and justice.

The following list is illustrative of the breadth of topics of interest to the Center:
